Well, since my account is still alive, I'm going to do a favor to a friend and post these two video animations here. These are the two latest animations a friend of mine has made. They are not related to Sonic, but they are cool, check them out if you are interested. Edited by Joedpa, Friday May 30 2014, 12:47 PM.

Hex was banned for tracing. Don't push your luck by promoting his work. |

So you are basically claiming that these two animations are also traced just like the "complete and absolute 100% of just one animation he made which was a sin" Right? |

No. I'm stating that for tracing work and harassing others on the forum to like it, Hex has lost his right to free promotion of his works through sonic paradox. |

Harassing others on the forum to like it? Hex never did it, got it? And if you are so sure about it prove it. Because I hate injustice, and where in this world is a rule that says that if you did something 3 years ago you are not able to improve and make other things never ever in your entire life? |

Regardless of the whole debate going on here, your friend's work looks alright. It's obvious that they have a good understanding of the program, and know how to pull off certain effects and coloring choices. Which is all fine and dandy. ![]() I think the main problem I have with the animations shown here is the lack of a strong foundation for their artwork. To be frank, they don't know how to draw or animate effectively yet, and I feel that it really hurts the work presented here. Part of animating is having an incredibly good understanding of physics, character anatomy and kinematics, which is not evident here. Maybe what might be a better idea is to start with smaller, less ambitious projects which focus on improving these qualities of their work, then work their way up to bigger ones as time goes on. I know that sounds boring, but I can definitely say that it feels a lot nicer to have a bunch of short but finished works, instead of a couple big projects that are a pain to finish. As for the tracing debate, I'm going to let you all in on a little "secret" in animation: Tracing is done all of the time in animation. Particularly in television animation, where deadlines are tight and you don't have enough time to go back and make sure everything looks proportional in your freehand drawings. A lot of the time, you'll see people trace right off of the model sheets, the animatics or trace over a previous drawing they made in the shot they're animating. For example, go look at some traditionally animated shows such as Steven Universe, Spongebob or Gravity Falls and break out your eagle eyes; you will most likely find quite a few moments which use drawings lifted from model sheets or previous moments in the animation. Some veteran and more "elitist" animators frown upon this mostly because they think it's "cheating", but there's no medal for doing it their way, lol. Most of those people are used to working in feature animation anyway, where every drawing is blown up in size on a big theater screen and prone to intense scrutiny. In the end, I don't care whether your friend traced or not. Their work has different (and in my opinion, bigger) problems which must be tackled if they want to keep going in animation, but they are still incredibly talented and could make some great stuff. I believe they just need to find the right influences to focus on which can help them improve their work, rather then hold them back. Hope that helps.

I'd have no problem with it other than the topic Hex made a few days ago recently where he proceeded to yell at other members, calling SP veterans idiots and harassing newer members that complained of the same issues - THAT ultimately ended his membership here. Even before that, it wasn't tracing alone that got him in trouble, but lying about tracing and attacking SP for the accusations instead of taking the critique that was given to him. I do agree with piggybank, though - tracing is used all the time in professional animation, and when it works within the show's universe, can be vital to finishing episodes in time. The bigger problem here is that Hex is tracing official art which clashes poorly with his current understanding of animation and poses - without anything to trace on the animations you've linked, his capabilities fall apart. Look at this entire discussion as advice rather than attacks - it will benefit you and your removed friend far more than continuing to complain and refer to paradox vets as "heartless morons". Alright, I called him and this is what he says: (we talk Spanish so I'll translate to English) "Him: Now that's what I was talking about. That guy is right about the anatomy thing, trying to draw bodies is still very complicated to me and you know it pretty well. Me: Yeah... you always draw heads too big. Him: Yes, yes I know it... That's why I did the fantasy one, there's not too much animation in there so... Me: So you did it because it would be easier to do, yeah, you've said that a billion times. Him: Right, I toooootally do not take criticism. Me: Do you not??? Him: Shut up." |

Okay then. He still broke the rules. Point remains. You break the rules, you're gone. Simple as that. And guess what? You're doing the exact same thing. Harassing people. So guess what? Another ban. |

See this hand I'm holding in front of my face? Is it handsome? Is it clean? Good, because I'm married to it. Don't tell it that I had an affair with my left foot, though. ![]() ![]() http://ask.fm/SSF1991 | |
