I'll write a letter to the Sonic Team. and will get back to you whenever they reply with an answer. On a serious note, YOU'RE TOO SLOW!! On a more serious note, because Sonic Team got lazy. If Sonic kept his speed, all of his levels in 06 would last like two minutes or so. :/ |

Are Sonic Team the Jews in 20th century Germany now? Sonic has never moved as fast as cutscenes or animation has shown him, he'd be impossible to control. Sonic '06 is a bad example because the controls are terrible and the mo-cap for the cutscenes is borderline retarded. |

Sonic's speed more or less worked in Unleashed since when his movement was usually restricted to one direction with a few buttons to quickly dodge stuff. But yeah, like anything in this world, you can make the fastest thing ever but it doesn't mean shit if its just gonna ram into a wall five seconds later. Of course, sometimes the speed issue just gets the piss taken right out of it. ![]() The way speed was handled is another distinguishing difference between classic and modern Sonic games. When you had to slow down in early Sonics, it involved a variety of jumping over death pits, and navigating springs, before soon getting to the points where you're springing and spinning everywhere. Modern games however just have a run fast here/homing attack badniks here pattern that just gets tedious. The Rush series, whilst a decent bunch of games, messes it up a fair bit by having a lot of run fast segments, but sticking a badnik square in your path, screwing up your plans unless you can do a dash or spin in the 0.1 second space you see it. |

I really hated that game,Sonic was way too slow, and had do these tasks,it was Sonic going through the levels with wearing shoes that made him go slow...and you'd have to beat the levels in a certain amount of time |

I didn't think he started off very fast in his first game either, back in the days it was all about mixing speed with platforming, and yeah: If you go too fast in these games you're as good as screwed! Which to me in my BS opinion just seems to be what Sonic Team is going for since you really need to memorize a level nowadays in order to progress, also you receive rankings for how well your clairvoyance works (Mine always fucks up on the first go). Which is also kind of insulting since half the time you can't normally see what's approaching you at mach 10. Which leaves me with a twisted and broken controller in the end. It is also something Sonic Rush did I believe *Goes to check* ... Oh yeah, they do it there too *rolls eyes*, but it did have it's charm. Best most current game I've played recently that's Sonic Related was Sonic Advance 2 for the GBA, kinda old, but it had a lot of the original qualities that the first games had, none of the grades/speed so fast that one slip means doom for your limited 3 lives! |

I personally agree with both GameBuddy's point. If Sonic was really moving as fast as he was in cutscenes, then you'd never stand a chance against half of the obstacles unless you had training in driving a formula one car that had a controller for the steering wheel. Also, I seem to be the only one so far who liked Sonic Labyrinth, although it was as a game in general rather than specifically a Sonic game. |
