Is when a talented person complains alot about how much their life sucks. I mean, if you got a gift or talent that ALOT of people would KILL to have, why are you being so freakin emotional about your life? Sure, we all got issues. But when I'm sitting here wishing so bad I could have the talent that you have, I really don't want to hear about it because you need to be REALLY grateful that God gave you what you got... So all these talented artist I'm seeing all over DA, (None are here, cuz everybody here is awesome so far!) Need to stop being "woe is me" and BE F-ING GRATEFUL!!!!! *throws hands up and takes a deep breath* Thank you. I think I'm good now. ![]() |

Grateful? To a magic man in the sky? Lol no. I have every right to bitch about how I don't live up to my expectations as an artist. If you don't like it, then fuck you. |

I don't see the point of complaining about it if you don't live up to your own expectations. I just try harder. I'm not going to have a pity party just so people on dA or wherever will be all "NAW YOU DRAW SO GOOD". So, I agree with both of you? *shrug* |

My art sucks because what I consider awesome is like on the level of J. Axer and I can't seem to improve beyond the majority of his Sonic arts back in 1999. I guess it bothers me that he improved way faster than I did o___O God didn't give me anything, I definitely wouldn't spend this much time drawing if weren't for the existence of a certain blue hedgehog =/ Oh and my life sucks doesn't really relate to my talent directly. My life sucks because it's hard to use my talents in a well paying job that would accept my skill level. So my "God's gifts" can't be put into good use to an extent.... or something. |

Yeah, you do have that right. But I think you're missing the point. Loor is simply saying that there are artists that are so ridiculous in their whining that it comes to the point of people disliking them for it. Obviously, people will complain everyday life, and THAT is okay to do, since it's a very healthy thing to talk about. Admittedly, so is whining about their art. But honestly, some artists are simply great/amazing at what they do and when they complain that their art sucks, they must obviously do it because they either fell inferior to someone who is somehow better than them or, more likely, they are just begging for attention from their fans. And by the way, that "magic man in the sky" does a lot more for everyone than you seem to think, so I know I, at least, would appreciate it if you didn't act like all the others in a chat room who gang up on a Christian just because they're too cynical to think about it. Have a nice day. (By the way, even though it will be hard, try not to feel like I'm attacking you. I'm merely pointing out what you apparently aren't getting here.) |

If I may. "Ganging up on a Christian" was -clearly- not Kaizoku's aim. He was merely voicing his own opinion on God as a sidepoint (if that), not saying 'GET A CLUE, FAGGOT'.
It goes without saying that talented people forget the fact that they're gifted and take it for granted, or stand to not believe it at all. I know someone who pertains to the latter, and it's sad seeing her so unconfident in herself. There are reasons for why this happens. People do try to do justice for themselves and have immense trouble with it because they really DO dislike their work. Hence perfectionism. Although yes, I do agree that people can be whingey about what they apparently don't have, but then again what can you expect on the Internet? I just ignore it. |

Haha, oho...your words tickle me. It's amazing how people can take a comment like that so seriously. I understand that Loor doesn't want to see people with talent bitch about it. But then again, if he has no such talent, he has no idea what it's like. There's always somebody out there that's better than you, and knowing that, just kinda makes you wanna criticize yourself and expect more. I'm not going to disagree, however, with how some artists do whine and moan a little too often, specifically for attention. It really as simple as trying harder with your work.
Keep your beliefs to yourself, bro. |

Wow... I didn't know that this topic would actually get into a serious discussion about religion. I really was just letting off steam cuz I gave a generous commission to a talented artist not too long ago, and all that person does is complain about how much their life sucks and how depressed they are... And it was really getting on my nerves because they are not grateful for anything they can do. So then I look at other DA pages, and THEY are all complaining about how much their life sucks, and they are not being grateful. Anyways, if a moderator feels like they have to lock this topic for being too controversial, I totally understand. (Just don't ban me please!) |

People who bitch about life all the time, say their art sucks, and "have great talent," aren't going anywhere. Their lack of any positive attitude is drawing in the wrong crowd of people. These are the people that swarm a good chunk of the internet. From the people I've seen, their art is refined, but it's bland an uncreative, and always has been, even before they've "hit the bottom". Most often they're just going to combine generic art styles together to make some more regurgitated manure and then cry for attention from their adoring fans. People don't look for improvement, they simply follow the crowd. They want their instant gratification, then they'll leave, only to come back later and beg for more. Same bullshit happens in music. It's called alternative rock. Long story short, ignore these people. Ignore their art. Ignore them completely. They're only going to leave dA several dozen times and then come back 'cause their methods of attention-whoring don't work out in the real world. They're going to make the same art, the same mistakes, and the same whiny posts forever. I, along with many others, always bitch about my art not being good. I miss the mark I aimed for, and then degrade it as a result. It happens, I just happen to be very brutal about it. I don't want a pity party, I'd rather a piss party. I probably wouldn't be as hateful of my crap if more people actually bothered to critique things nowadays. That's why I like it here. People actually give critique. I do like some of my work, I don't think all of it sucks. |
