I really like this mix, hehe. Just a few things to note about the picture itself though: * Some of the lines are a bit blotty, so to speak. On his tail, and on his head (quill... thing, don't know what it's called), the lines bulge out a bit and look uneven. Also the lines could do with smoothing with the Curve tool to make sure they're not wobbly and such (like you did in your Tails sprite for Sonic Overdrive?) * A bit of cell shading would also flesh this out a good deal; a must for smaller pixelled/rastor artwork! ![]() * The rim of the mug is topheavy to the rest of it the way it bulges out, that doesn't look too natural. * Some of the lines change sizes; the hand has small lines for some reason, while the rest have larger. * Something about the visor bugs me; the metal plates should be a little bulkier than that perhaps; look at a ref of Godot with the visor, it's hard to describe but the plates are also quite.. deeply plated, and the light is coming from within it. This one's probably a bit picky though for a fun picture, not like the visor has to be picture perfect to Godot but anyway xD; * Colour of lines. Yellows are hard to do lines for, because the lines are pretty bright and blend with the former yellow a bit; how about if you altered the yellow to give it a slightly more greyish/brownish tint to it, to make it stand out more as an outline? * How come the mouth is grey with a white 'cloud' over it? I thought it was milk or something but not sure xD Hope this helps a bit! Sorry if it's being too picky for a fun picture, feel free to take or leave some of it. Hence the curve, you've used it before so you must be aware already xD; |

*Just before I begin: I say 'T-ails' because SOMEONE'S been messing with the word filter, tsk tsk tsk The same with 'F-lash', too...Ulp, Sorry for the double-post people, but this is unrelated to the post above and I just HAVE to say it.
Are you really 11? Did you really do all that animation? If so, I demand (yes, demand) to see more, because we are looking at one GIFTED MEMBER HERE. You don't often get young members (or that many new members who claim to be good) who are THIS competent with the medium. When I was 14, I was still making an icky tween one of T-ails and getting nowhere. This is FAR superior. I will say that you need to work on the backgrounds and general artwork, as they tend to be rather messy and blocky (especially on the piece of paper when Egg looks at it, despite staying still, it's still rough around the edges, and also with the pavements/sidewalks and other things which should be straight, but appear instead to be curvy). As far as the background is concerned, maybe try slightly less bright colours to fade it out a little bit, or thinner lines to make it less as emphasised as the animation itself?, And when you have those dash lines - for when that Egg character is moving around the screen really fast- try and work on making the character look like he 'zooms' from one to another- i.e elongated inbetweens? The lines looks really tacky like that, pretty lazy really, especially seeing as the speedlines themselves are obviously tweened. Also, step up the flexibility of the animation! Make the character crouch low then jump up really high, make his body twist and stretch and flex. In other words, it's a very simple character, so make the very most of what you can do with him. When you begin to do that, your potential as an animator will REALLY start to get off the ground. Look at Morph, for instance. I've got a Morph-like character called Beanman (simple, I know) which I use to do very simple flexy animations, overlapping action etc. in the most ridiculous situations. That's the fun of using a simple character like that! In other words, how about a straight FBF (I know I keep banging on about this, but it will really help us to see what you're capable of) of a Sonic character? How they run/walk/jump/fly? (T-AILS! T-AILS! *gets shot*) From birds eye/worms eye views even? Just muck around with everything you know, really!) You'll still need a lot of work looking at this F-lash, to make a full Sonic Short- quality is very important here. However, seeing as you've caught on to this much at your age, I think if you really nurture it with our help, you should go far. Just stick at it and you shouldn't have a problem! Just out of curiosity, does your dad (animator, I believe you said) give you crits and advice on your work? |

Agreed with Jacks. Considering your age, that's a lot of potential you're showing. Refine your skills (and take her advice) and you could develop into quite the animator. |

Went to some Calgary Comic-con with my brother and his friend and Looky wut I gots yesterday ![]() ![]() Master Sword is mine, the impossible to carry "cause it's so freaken heavy" Buster Sword is my brothers. And I also got this: ![]() Cause Caterpie is FREAKIN BADASS! Also the guys from pure pwnage were there. I'm not a fan, but my brother and his friend were drooling all over them. They got them to sign everything they had on them, his shirt, his ipod, nintendo ds, school bag, pringles can, another shirt, ect. But yeah, they seem like nice guys, really okay with the fans and all (not like other people who were signing autogrpahs for $50 a peice), and my bro and his friend had a nice long chat with them. Then we entered a brawl tournament and I lost in the very first match to some guy who kept dodging with lucario. |

Wow... I enjoy constructive crit, but... you've picked me nitless. Heheheeeeh, anyway: * I see what you mean; the blotty lines are intentional, though. I wanted to give it a simple, almost 'drawn with crayon' sort of look... * It does look prettier with shading in my mind, thanks. * Good eye. I wasn't even thinking about how fun that would be to drink from for poor Espi:odot... * This, too, was intentional... sorry if it's a little hard on the eyes. * I know, right? I had trouble with this, considering my subject doesn't appear to have any ears for the visor to wrap around. It left it looking kind of odd, even for a parody. It bugged the crap out of me... * It looked distinguishable on my laptop. I can try to fix that, the file's still here. * Yeah... you're right. I can barely see it myself. The 'cloud' is supposed to be his mouth. Maybe I should try using the laptop at eye level instead of from my lap?Should I feel more serious about it in the future, I'll touch up on it with that... It helps a lot, actually. How far would I get without knowing what I'm doing wrong. If one took a car or what to be repaired and every mechanic told them it was fine as it was for fear of offending the owner, eventually... well... so thanks. ![]() Sorry if the post was too long. I'll shorten it if I have to. ![]() @Griffin: Nice! How big is that guillotine blade? |

Sorry Kadoyuu, I'm starting to have a habit of getting ruthless with my crit. No more than I am with my own work, I assure you. Like I say, feel free to take or leave any of it. Glad to see it helped anyhow; my job wouldn't be done if it didn't.

Actually, this buster sword is extremely heavy. I really think it would break your sword in half, no joke. It's hard enough trying to pick it up with two hands alone! Swinging that thing would destroy whatever it hit! |

The Masamune can only be used properly by Sephiroth, so it's pretty much useless. And Griff, you need to be showered with Mako before you can use the Buster Sword at its full potential. ........ so yeah, I like Final Fantasy and those swords rock. I have a Soul Reaver at home somewhere.

I've got FFVII memorized, each part of it, including the spinoffs. I can use the masamune with two hands quite well, but with one hand....eh. At least I'm not cutting cake with swords like what was going on the channel earlier today. |
